The story for the Swiss Spirit X Filatelia:

Both Charlie and I independently liked this colt at the Tattersalls Ireland sales. Having seen him for the first time he went onto my short list for the syndicate. However, was promptly taken off as I expected  him to fetch above our budget in the ring. I then had to leave the sales early, once in my car I checked the results; noticing he was unsold. I promptly rang Charlie, who had coincidentally under bid him with the syndicate in mind. Fortunately, we were able to come to a deal with the vendor securing our first syndicate horse.

Swift Spirit himself was a high-class sprinter from a respected family, he’s made a promising start at stud producing plenty of winners, many of them multiple winners. He’s out of an Intikhab mare that won in France at four years of age.

A bay colt with a lovely loose step, he has a deep shoulder and a strong hip. He looks a ready made two year old. We would hope to have him on the track this side of Ascot.

The story of Zoffany X African Plain:

Charlie and I were on the lookout in Book three of the Tattersalls yearling sales for the second and final horse. This colt was striding round the pre parade ring with such athleticism, we noticed him simultaneously. We continued to watch him stride round, he was so impressive that we almost disregarded him thinking he would not be within budget. However, we followed him into the ring, we had to stretch to a couple of extra bids making sure he was purchased. I’m so pleased we did, he’s a beautiful big horse who’s stood out at home already. He should be ready to run in the early part of the summer

Zoffany needs no introduction, he was a top class six furlong two year old, winning The Phoenix Stakes. He was also high class over a mile at three years. He’s been an excellent source of two year olds recently adding Albigna to his list of Group One winner. This colt’s Dam African Plains was useful in her own right, placing on her first start. She’s from a deep Juddmonte family which includes Fair Eva.

This is a tall imposing colt with a huge step, he makes great use of himself and is clearly an athlete. He’ll take a little longer than the Swift Spirit colt. However, he should be an early summer two year old, who will progress throughout the summer.
